Emergency Preparedness
I was reading one of my favorite blogs tonight, That's My Letter
Her post was a wake-up call to me. She was writing about what it's been like for her and her family during the last week living through Hurricane Sandy. No power, little gas, and little food in the fridge because of the power being out.
I was just at a girlfriends house tonight and we were talking about putting emergency disaster kits together. Now we've been "talking" about this for a while now. I mean really it's hard for us to find a flashlight that works when our power goes out for a few minutes. This is one of the things my husband is always complaining about. I have a feeling it has to do with flashlight flashdance on my son's bedroom ceiling after lights out. Anyway, after reading this post over at That's My Letter, I think it's time to put that "talk" into action.
I will for sure be gathering lots of info of what to have in those kits. Any suggestions?
This is all I can think of for now:
1. Flashlights with extra batteries
2. Canned Soup
3. Bottled Water
4. Battery Powered Radio
5. ???
Hmmm, I'm out of ideas but something that you would see along the lines of Extreme Couponers comes to mind. Racks and racks of "extra" stuff. Non perishable stuff. Do any of you have an emergency disaster kit or a plan?
I will be doing a little research and reporting back to you on what I come up with....
Be blessed!
